Future Success
This project is important because, it helps us understand how our future career is. Also it helps us plan our future for the real world. For example, I choose to become a cartoonist. I found out how much they make in a year ($61,985) and also figured out what I needed to do to become a cartoonist, taking four years undergrad in college. It help me get an idea of which colleges I should go to. I figured out how much money the government will take away from me because of taxes, which let me see how much I was able to spend on items and on student loans. This project gave me a glimpse of how my future would be like, as a cartoonist.

Romeo and Juliet vs. West SIde Story
West Side Story is different than Romeo and Juliet because they are both different kinds of love Stories. For Example, in West Side Story, the story took place in the 20th century. Also, their were two gangs, The Jets (Americans) and The Sharks (Puerto Ricans). The Shark's leader sister (Marie) fell in love with an former Jet member (Tony). Therefore they had to hide their love. On the other hand, in Romeo and Juliet, their are two families, (Montagues and the Capulets). The families are enemies, and Romeo is from the Montagues, and Juliet is from the Capulets. They both fell in love, but they can't be together since Juliet was in an arranged Marriage to a prince and their families were enemies. Therefore, Romeo and Juliet and The West Side Story are both different.

"Romeo and Juliet"-Reflection
After viewing the play, Romeo and Juliet, I think that Romeo and Juliet shouldn't have died at the end. Romeo thought that Juliet was dead, and decided to drink some poison. Juliet was only asleep. She drank some liquid that made her seem as if she was dead. She drank it because she didn't want to marry the Prince. Her plan was to runaway with Romeo after the potion wore out. But, when she woke up, she noticed Romeo was dead. She decided to end her life by taking a knife and killing herself. I think that Romeo and Juliet should have been able to live, so that they could have enjoyed their love. Their parents hatred for one another, prevented that from happening.

"Young Love, Old Divisions"
After reading,"Young Love, Old Divisions", which was about an African American boy named Lionel and a Mexican girl named Beatriz, who like each other. They both are together, but it's difficult to stay together because of other people opinions around them. The only time they are together is in school, because they don't want to hear other people opinions while they are out together. I feel that it doesn't matter what people think about you if you like someone from a different race, as long as you like that person. Therefore, I hope that Lionel and Beatriz stay together.

I Won $50,000!
This project was about how to spend $50,000 to buy items which included tax, commision, insurance, and gas. We had to figure out how much the items cost with the tax and commision, or if you were buying a car, you would also add insurance and gas. But, before you get the money, we had to write a proposal to convince and to tell the tech tiger association on what and how you are going to spend the money. I enjoyed working on this project because, I found some cool items while I was searching for things to buy and also I had fun when looking for things to buy. The project wasn't really that difficult, but I made a couple of mistakes when multiplying and adding commision, tax, insurance and gas. If I were to do the project again, I would probably change some of the items, and buy different ones. I really enjoyed working on this project.

"Back to the Future"
This project was about using percent change to find out what was the prices of items that you picked from 20 years ago and finding out how much it cost. Also, in this project, you figure out how much those same items will cost in 20 years in the future. I did enjoy working in the project because I had fun with my partner Aminata and it was interesting finding out how much the items we picked was 20 years ago. The project was a bit difficult because of the bar graphs that we had to work on and make sure it was on point. If I were to do the project again, I would change some of the items because it took a while to find some of the prices for the items.

"The Day Before The Event"
I feel a little nervous about the Math Exam that is tomorrow and Wednesday, but I think it is going to be alright. I think the reason I feel that way is because it is a big day and I really want to pass. My opinion about 8th grade math in general, is that it is a little more difficult. Some activities that I would like for Ms. Pulphus to plan after the test are some trips for the class. I think that I am almost fully prepared for high school. I feel that I will succeed in high school next year is because I feel that I am prepared. Some areas that I need to improve in order to have a successful school year are to keep all my work organized and get higher test grades. 3 academic goals that I would like to accomplish by June 24th are to come to school early everyday, pass all my classes, and get a 3 or 4 on my math and reading exams.

Rewards- Social Studies
I think it's unfair for the people who don't work hard to be rewarded the sames as people who do work hard because, they are not doing anything. Also, it seems like the people who do work hard, are working for nothing. We can write down the names of the people who do work hard.

Mood/Poetry
Song: Mad
The mood of this song is sadness. I know because in the song, it says that because in the song, "I cant sleep through the pain". Also, in the song he says "fighting for nothing" and "crying for nothing". I think that this person wrote the song with this mood because maybe the person is sad and going through something like that.

Bronx Masquerade #1
I think that the book "Bronx Masquerade" was was good and interesting, because everybody wrote a little about themselves and a poem each. I can relate Raul Ramfrez to a friend of mines because both are caring and think of others. Raul Ramfrez doesn't care about the money, he just wants to be a painter. My favorite character has to be Chankara Troupe because she is independent and isn't afraid. She doesn't want to be like her sister, who gets beaten. She stood up for herself. Also, her poem was deep. My least favorite character is Tyrome because he doesn't believe that he will live for a while and will not get a future. I do believe that he can have a futur. He just have to go for it.

Poem Reflection Red Cross
Poem- Red Cross
An inference that I can make about this poem is that the girl doesn't at first understands Ms. Fisher until the end. A word that can best describe what the poet is feeling is sadness, because Ms. Fisher is a woman who is homeless and suffers. And at the end she never wakes up again. I think the meaning of this poem is to tell readers about how hard and difficult life can be. I do not connect to this poem because I never went through something like that. But if I put myself in the characters position, then I realize how the character was feeling and what she was going through.

8th grade State Math Test
I think I am not ready to take the 8th grade State Math Test yet because I feel that there are some things left that I need to go over. I have been preparing for the test in March, by going over my work in my math notebook. Also practicing every week. Hopefully, I do good on the State Math Exam!
"Transformations"-Conclusion
I did enjoy this unit that was about Transformations. You can apply transformations in real life. For example, Rotation is one transformation. When you are doing rotations, you must know about clockwise and counterclockwise, which is like a clock. A clock can go clockwise and counter clockwise. Moreover, Reflection is another transformation. Reflection is like a mirror, since it is reflecting. Therefore, you can apply transformations in real life.

"Transformations"- Rotations
We turn our papers when drawing rotations because when we rotate the paper, It shows us what quadrant the figure will be. This is predicting where and how the rotation will turn out because it tells us what quadrant the new figure will be in and the coordinates for that figure. A rotated figure doesn't changes in size or shape, but it does change in location. A rotated figure is different from a reflection because a rotated figure is when a shape is rotated either clockwise or counterclockwise, and reflection is a figure that is being flipped over by any line of symmetry. If we rotate a figure 90 degrees clockwise and then 90 degrees counterclockwise, then the figure will stay in the same location. If we rotate a figure 360 degrees counterclockwise, then the figure will also be in the same location. The difference between rotating a figure clockwise and counterclockwise is that the figure will be in a different location.

Poetry
Poetry can be more interesting than prose because it catches people attention. For example, When I read the prose, it became boring and didn't caught my attention. It also used difficult vocabulary words and took a while to get to the point. On the other hand, when I read the poem, right off the back it caught my attention when it began to rhyme. Moreover, it got straight to the point, and got me more interested when I continued to read each stanzard. Therefore, Poetry can be more interesting than prose.
"Transformation"-Reflection
A reflection is like a mirror because a mirror shows the same figure put in a different position. You could reflect an image over the x-axis or y-axis without knowing the exact rules by knowing that when you reflect the image over the x-axis, you change the y coordinates, and when you reflect the image over the y-axis, you change the the x coordinates. Therefore, it's the opposite. The original figure and it's reflection is exactly equal distance from the line of symmetry because nor the size or shape changes, only the position, and the two figures match.
I think that we could determine the line of symmetry if we were given the points of the original figure and the image. When looking at two figures, we know which one is the transformation because one figure is the original, and the other is prime. So the figure that is plotted prime is the transformation figure.

"Transformations - Dilations"
A dilated figure does changes in shape, size, and location because of the scale factor. When you zoom into a picture, the figure may get bigger or smaller. Zooming relates to dilations because the figure may change the size in the figure. If a figure undergoes a dilation with a scale factor of 1.5, the figure will get bigger since its greater than 1. If the scale factor is 0.5, then the figure will get smaller because the scale factor is less than 1. Dilations and translations are different because dilations is when you use the factor scale and the shape will either get bigger or smaller and translations is when the figure is the same but in a different location. Multiplying by 1/3 is the same as dividing by 3 because when you multiply 1/3 by a number, you need to divide by 3 after. For example, 6 multiply 1/3 is 6/3. Then when you divide you will get 2. You will get the same answer if you divide 6 by 3, which is equals to 2. Therefore, its the same.

Math Journals part 2- "Transformations Translations"
When looking at two figures, I know which one is a transformation by looking at a change in the size or location, and by looking at which figure is prime. For example, Figure ABC is the original, and figure A 'B' C' is the prime figure since their is a change in shape and location, and its prime. The new points are called coordinate points. Original, same, and locations are words that describe Translations. A translated figure will never change its place because the figure stays the same and slides across a coordinate plane. The figure only changes its location. You can translate a figure without a coordinate plane by subtracting the Y coordinate and/or the X coordinate. For example, if point A is located at (2,8) and A' is located at (3,2), then I subtract 3 from 2 and 2 from 8, which I am left with -1 and 6. I last find the absolute value and my final answer is (1,6).
