I believe that you can use the Pythagorean theorem in real life when you want to know how long it takes from one place to the other, for example: if Amy drove four miles south from her house and then drove three miles east and got to her friend's house, she can use the Pythagorean Theorem to figure out how many miles it takes from her friend's house to her house, so we first write down the formula (a^2+b^ 2=c^2) and then plug in our a and b. Our leg measures are 4 and 3. After you plugged in the a and b , you simplify and are left with 16+9=c^2. After you add 16 +9 and you are left with 25=c^2, you then find the square root on both sides and then your final you are left with 5=c. Therefore, you answer is 5 miles from Amy's friend house to her house.
